How to choose an accountant in Cyprus

Start by confirming ICPAC membership, which is mandatory to sign a statutory audit. Then check three things: whether they routinely handle international or non-dom structures like yours, whether they quote a fixed annual fee or bill hourly, and whether bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll and the annual audit are handled in-house or sub-contracted. A firm that does all four under one roof is usually cheaper and faster than juggling separate providers.

What a Cyprus accountant costs in 2026

For a small active Cyprus Ltd, full annual compliance (bookkeeping, VAT returns, corporation tax return and the statutory audit) typically runs €800 to €2,500 per year. A dormant or holding company with few transactions costs less; a trading company with payroll, multiple VAT registrations or group reporting costs more. The mandatory audit is the irreducible part of the bill, so most savings come from doing your own bookkeeping.

Do you need an accountant and a bookkeeper?

No. Many founders keep their own books in Xero or QuickBooks and hire an ICPAC firm only for the year-end audit and tax filing. If you would rather not touch the numbers monthly, a bookkeeper handles day-to-day recording and VAT, while the accountant signs off the audit. Confirm your accountant is comfortable auditing books they did not prepare before you engage.
